I've tried Ian's test package with the stock binary on my Jetson TX2-NX SoC but it fails instantly and doesn't leave any stderr.txt fle in the test directory for debugging information. Just leaves the downloaded numpy support directory.

I'm currently testing his fixed test binary that is running now and will report back when it is finished.

Yes, it is easy in the case of this app. Just copy a task to a temp directory along with the application and run the task as a parameter to the application.

Hi, has the checkpointing issue been the reason for the illegal memory access errors I've been experiencing?

What do you consider "older" cards. Not surely 3080's and such. I am getting a LOT of "illegal memory access" errors on several hosts. No issues with other projects on those cards, however.

An example: https://minecraftathome.com/minecrafthome/result.php?resultid=10473679

Running the lastest kernels and drivers.

No.

You need a developer that understands exactly what the code in the app is doing. Then you need to have them optimize the app with them being a CUDA wiz.

Only developer I know of capable of this is Petri33. And he is busy right now optimizing the Einstein CUDA apps. Maybe afterwards, he might be persuaded to take a crack at the Minecraft app.

Boinc host error detection isn't working. The code is supposed to only give one task every 24 hours until a task is successfully returned valid, whereupon it will issue two tasks, then double for every valid returned result. But it's broken on that host.

Other projects have no issues adjusting credits per task when new types of work are released. Doesn't cause any issues with the projects science results.

Hi Folks,

For those of you getting that ptxas error, it's most likely because your Nvidia driver is out of date.

I compiled against CUDA 12.6 (roughly equating to driver 560+) but many of you don't seem to have installed Nvidia driver versions higher than 535.

That said, I did see driver 565 is available on Ubuntu 20.04.

Regardless, this is something we needed to have configured on our end to notify you via the client about this driver version minimum.

I'll update that shortly. Let me know if anyone sees any issues with updating your drivers.

Thanks!

Most hosts on Ubuntu 22 or 24 have default 535 drivers provided by the distros, that's why.

Wow, double bummer indeed. Well guess it was nice while it lasted. Will move back to my traditional gpu projects.
