New CUDA app. What's the story here?

I haven't generated work for it yet, but I staged the project files to ensure they loaded in properly
I intend on putting out a news post when I'm ready to generate the work 🙂
Short version though is that it's aiming to find the seed used in the panorama for one of the most recent versions of Minecraft

Most likely, I'll generate work tomorrow and put out a news post. It'll either match, or be slightly "heavier" than loneliest-seed on the scheduler. Weight referring to how much the scheduler pushes these tasks versus loneliest seed.

Well, I got 5 tasks! Pretty good for no tasks being generated. :) They are, however, all stuck in "Completed, waiting for validation" status. And the run time was 17 secs. combined for all 5 tasks. :)

Got my first tasks, limited to 8 per GPU. (Can this be raised for GPUs?)
Win10 3070Ti
Run time = 523.02s = 8min 43s
Temps dropped from 71/72 to 57 (Was running SRBase TF app)
Power dropped from ~260 to 160W
GPU Load 100%
CUDA app so 1 CPU thread used

2x did not raise temp/power, only doubled run time so no eff increase in Windows.

Linux 3080Ti
267w not hitting power limit
267mb GDDR usage
100% GPU usage
Run time = 316.53 = 5min 16s

Another 3080Ti/Linux water cooled
Run time = 302.8s so just over 5min
Just under the 300W PL at 295W. Raising PL did not increase draw.

And I "lost" my beta 1.21.4 Pale Garden Panorama Cracker WUs :(

The good news is that the old task size meant they only ran for a few seconds, so not much was lost there.

Apologies nonetheless for yanking the broken ones. BOINC wasn't marking them as cancelled the way I have come to expect so things got a little... Drastic

All valid or pending so far out of 84 completed.

Based on some preliminary numbers, you may want to look at the points/WU awarded (compared to Find seeds with zero villages within a radius)

Most likely I'll bump it to... Around 7500 based on how much quicker these run compared to loneliest seed.

Let me know if that sounds a little more fair.

Just one opinion, but I think you're pretty close to right on with that value. Others may have a different opinion :)

Running fine on my rigs. Will there be more of these WUs coming?

That will depend on the result from this batch. If it's favorable, we may not need more runs of this specific app. But if it's unfavorable, you can expect further runs as we refine the data we're working with.

Also - I updated the credit values to 7500... I'm not entirely sure how you're "meant" to update credit but the db values reflect 7500. What I mean is the total shown on your account may be using the 2500 number and I'm not totally sure what the intended way to fix that is :)

The data is unfavorable (the groundhog has seen its shadow?), so there will likely be another run after all.

We're working on putting that data together and I'll update this thread once it's ready to rock.

I'm seeing 7500 for credit. So whatever you did appears to be fine.

Any encouraging words on when more WUs will be coming our way? :)
