Hi everyone,

I wanted to put this out there as I'm seeing a high error rate on tasks running on older GPUs.

I've spent a chunk of time digging into these, and the most prevalent error is a launch timeout error from the cuda driver.
This is a possible indication of either hardware failure, or a buggy driver.

If you see a lot of "Error 702" failing tasks, please update your drivers to the latest possible for your OS and video card, as there's potentially an issue with your current driver preventing work from completing on your card.

Please let us know if you have any questions, or need any help determining the issue.

Thanks!

What do you consider "older" cards. Not surely 3080's and such. I am getting a LOT of "illegal memory access" errors on several hosts. No issues with other projects on those cards, however.

An example: https://minecraftathome.com/minecrafthome/result.php?resultid=10473679

Running the lastest kernels and drivers.

My GTX 750 is failing the these tasks, however I don't think it's hardware or driver as Primegrid and other projects that run on it don't error out, and it's running on the latest driver for the card as far as I'm aware.

The 750 is a weird one, while minecraft@home have legacy support for the Maxwell series of Nvidia Cards (the GTX 900 series + GTX 745, 750, and 750Ti) the 700 ones are based on Maxwell VS all the 900 series being maxwell 2. (all other 700 series cards are either kepler or Fermi 2) so the modifications they did to make maxwell cards work might only be good for maxwell 2.0 GPUs. Weird NVIDIA lineup issues.

But unlike minecraft@home, PrimeGrid will run down to Fermi GPUs (400 series)

But Prime Grid still has tasks that support them, unlike Minecraft which by comparison is just a baby so doesn't have the legacy support. There is no Boinc Programmer that Projects share, so what one Project knows, ie PG, if other Projects don't ask and get a positive response there is no sharing of the intel. It's alot like the glibc problem LLMentorGrid fell into as they used the latest version of glibc which only came with the latest versions of Linux, so ALOT of people were left out.
